The Medical unit is a 37 bed Unit that focuses on a variety of medical diagnoses including Cardiac, Pulmonary, Renal, Oncology, Infectious disease, Neurological, Psychiatric, Surgical, and COVID 19.
This area is one of the stepdown units to the ICU.
Our Neenah Hospital is a level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with a specialized patient population.
This is a fast-paced unit that works closely with the Provider Hospitalist Team who is in house 24/7 to attend to our patients needs and is readily available for our patients and team.
There is significant multidisciplinary collaboration between Nursing, Care Managers, Providers, and Ancillary Services to ensure high quality care and support is given to our patients.
We do an individualized orientation process to ensure each new team member's needs are met and adjusted to their experience and knowledge base.

Under the supervision of the LPN, RN, or nurse leader, the Patient Care Tech (PCT) performs patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care activities to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient.
Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by ThedaCare.
Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate, safe care and demonstrated commitment to continuous growth and professional development.

Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.
Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice and specific competencies for the patient population served.
2.
Checks patients' vital signs, height, and weight, as needed, based on patient type.
3.
Provides compassionate care and listens to patients' concerns and guides them by answering any questions or concerns.
4.
Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent crisis.
5.
Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports to care team.
6.
Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
7.
Assists patients with basic needs (such as hygiene, eating, using the restroom, and dressing).
8.
Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
9.
Performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) as directed.
10.
Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
11.
Provides care that is age appropriate, culturally specific, and developmentally appropriate in an environment that promotes patient safety.
12.
Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED preferred.
o Must be 18 years of age.

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures WORK ENVIRONMENT:
