I.
Purpose:
Specializes in payroll regulatory compliance with multiple state tax withholding and unemployment compensation regulations.
II.
Duties:
Responsible for running and loading payroll files and requesting the wire transfer to the tax filing service.
Responsible for the payroll tax reconciliation processes on a periodic, quarterly, and annual basis.
Responsible for registering Bemis companies with tax agencies/localities.
Researching and resolving any tax compliance issues.
Tests and implements systems and procedural changes within the HRIS system for the payroll department.
Troubleshoots tax setup variances within the HRIS system.
Runs special payroll processes including deferred compensation payments.
Performs complex payroll entries such as severance, expatriates, and stock vesting.
Oversees the maintenance of the payroll procedural materials.
Provides back up in all Workday payroll processes, i.e. pay calcs, entries, auditing and completing
Troubleshoots and responds to questions from field HR, employees and spouses, accounting and vendors such as our tax services provider, employment verification vendor, etc.
Serves as a backup to Payroll Analyst responsible for garnishments.
Creates process improvements in payroll in order to streamline processes and make the department more effective, efficient with less room for error.
Audits payroll related queries and reports on a periodic basis to be sure data is accurate, timely, and compliant.
Education & Experience Required
Experience & Education:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business management or human resources or equivalent related experience
Minimum of 5 years of HR experience with at least 3 years of experience related directly to payrollSkills & Abilities Needed
Requirements:
Accuracy a must along with being detail oriented
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive deadlines simultaneously
Good written and verbal communication skills
Capability to make well thought out decisions
Working knowledge of multiple state regulatory requirements
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Above average math skills
Ability and experience in computer software: Microsoft Office, HRIS, and Kronos
