Summary
This position leads development of cost models, supplier industry analysis, market insights, value chain analysis, and spend analytics for critical sourcing categories. The incumbent will provide thought leadership through analytics that enable the Strategic Sourcing professionals to make sound business decisions and improve value in negotiations. This position works closely with the regional Strategic Sourcing professionals, Finance, cross-functional business teams, and suppliers to achieve strategic sourcing objectives for the department.
Internal Stakeholders:
Broad base of internal stakeholders that could include personnel from Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Manufacturing, and other personnel involved in the implementation of business strategies where sourcing plays a role
Stakeholder Expectations:
Responsible for developing and maintaining dynamic cost models to improve Total Delivered Cost and Total Cost of Ownership for the assigned categories
Possess knowledge in core strategic sourcing process, financial analysis, supplier cost modeling, value chain analysis, and project management
Assist in post-sourcing event analysis, negotiations, and decision making
Possess knowledge of supply chain and market conditions for goods/services purchases
Responsibilities
Perform supply chain and value chain analysis and develop cost models for strategic sourcing
Become familiar with internal category data
Work with the Commodity Manager to develop savings hypotheses
Develop analysis to validate hypotheses
Build insight from the analysis and provide preliminary findings/recommendations
Findings from one analysis often prompt further analysis and analyst should take the initiative to further the analysis as needed
Develop and maintain detailed cost model for the category
Develop and maintain data bases on current and future (forecast) internal usage and prices/costs for all items within the assigned categories
Identify and recommend cost savings opportunities identified by the analysis of both the internal and market data
Locate data and complete templates for category strategy review according to pre-set schedule
Communicate learnings to Commodity Managers
Attend key meetings with business units to explain and message the analysis
Perform market research
Locate and perform analysis on market and industry data
Maintain knowledge base of industry trends, market research, and analytic tools
Support Commodity Managers in research and selection of sources of supply for sourcing events to ensure that the requirements of the category are met with the optimum quality, service, and cost to use
Analyze market and supply dynamics related to supplier proposals to develop a matrix of negotiation scenarios. Engage sourcing team to align on acceptable negotiation outcomes
Monitor and report performance indicators; perform data validation to ensure accuracy and functionality in assigned areas of responsibility, investigate and initiate corrective action as required
Challenge existing practices and make recommendations concerning improvements to standardizing and streamlining processes, improving team effectiveness, provide information for managerial decision making, and organize data to fulfill support requirements
Maintain knowledge about the markets and how they affect price, availability, or supply chain logistics for assigned commodities and provide market analysis to stakeholders as required
Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results
Communicate fully with superiors, colleagues, and subordinates and work effectively in a team environment. Be informative and communicate in a way that is timely, complete, accurate, and clear
Qualifications
Basic
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline
5 or more years of relevant experience (e.g. financial analyst, research analyst, business planning, consultant)
High level of analytical ability to drive insight from data analysis
High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and ability to use them as tools to communicate analysis
Experience building complex cost models from grounds-up
Experience in analyzing and/or improving global supply chain and value chain
Strong Presentation, project management, process improvement, and communication skills
Ability to operate with limited direction. Possess knowledge and experience in relevant purchasing commodity group
Advanced stakeholder management. Executive presence/facilitation skills

Qualifications:
Experience in analyzing global industry supply vs. demand and how this influences pricing

years' experience with consulting firm; preferably in analytic role or equivalent experience or an advanced degree - MBA/Finance
Relevant experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain management
Ability to drive insight from data analysis and skills in hypothesis building, advanced cost modeling, and regression analysis
Problem solving experience in reducing total costs
Ability to influencing others, manage change, lead cross-functional teams
Six Sigma and Lean training
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
